Training Programme on LAA Revenue Management System

The Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) conducted a two-day Training Programme on the LAA Revenue Management System from 19th to 20th February 2026 at the Rest House, Ampara. The programme was organized for officers serving in Local Authorities such as Municipal Councils, Urban Councils, and Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Ampara District. The objective of the programme was to strengthen the participants understanding of the revenue management practices followed in Local Authorities. The sessions focused on key revenue sources such as assessment taxes, trade licence fees, stall rents, and other local authority income, as well as proper procedures for collection, recording, monitoring, and accountability. The training also highlighted the importance of systematic revenue administration to improve the financial sustainability of local government institutions. The training programme was conducted in the Sinhala medium to ensure clear understanding and active participation. Mr.W.M.J.P.Senevirathna, Investigation Officer of the ACLG Office, Ampara, served as the resource person. He shared his practical knowledge and experience on effective revenue management practices, common issues faced by Local Authorities, and methods to improve efficiency and transparency. A total of 36 officers participated in the training programme.
